Good morning all. Happy (hopefully) halfway through your work-week…today is like a Thursday and a Wednesday in one and I love it. Last night we officially changed our cable/internet provider and I hope it is worth the changes. The dominant provider around here is Comcast…which usually has dependable service; but the price keeps increasing. We were paying $129/month for: Cable (with a decent amount of channels, pretty much everything we wanted/need, including free HBO), two HD cable boxes, internet, modem and wireless router. When we originally signed up our bill was $68 but eventually our promos ran out.
I considered cancelling and resigning up under my married name (since the contract was in my maiden name; I even asked two Comcast reps if this would work and they said it would) but RCN was still cheaper than the rates we’d get as a “new” customer to Comcast. With RCN our total bill will be $85/month for: Cable (same channels as before, except now we have Starz instead of HBO (Ben is disappointed he’s losing Boardwalk Empire…whoops! My thought had just been that Entourage is done and I can live without Curb Your Enthusiasm), plus we do get Fox Soccer channel or something that Ben’s excited for), 1 HD cable box and one regular cable box (since we rarely watch TV in our bedroom, we’re saving $60/yr to have just regular box in there), internet, modem and router). In a year’s time we’ll save close to $500 by the switch (and that’s after the installation fee from RCN).
While I’m excited to save the money, I have to say, in the 12 hours that we’ve had RCN, it seems uber ghetto. I hope we can last with it. As with anything, there’s an adjust period, right?

I am afraid that this statement is not correct"I considered cancelling and resigning up under my married name (since the contract was in my maiden name; I even asked two Comcast reps if this would work and they said it would) but RCN was still cheaper than the rates we’d get as a “new” customer to Comcast.".
ReplyDelete".I would appreciate if you can further elaborate this.Thank you.
