Happy Friday Y'all!! This is me today, except in hairless-stick figure-form.

You know my plans for the weekend (NYC baby!), what are yours? I hope you have something fun and/or relaxing planned!

In case you're curious what we have up our sleeves, well it's debatable. Ben hates plans and I love them. I have a list of ideas gathered from blogs, books, and friends (stored here on Pinterest), and we'll have to see how they play out.

Our must-do list includes:
  • Stroll Central Park (this is top on Ben's list, what a sweetie pie)
  • Ride the Staten Island Ferry
  • Walk the Brooklyn Bridge,
  • NYC style pizza (Grimaldi's is top on our list),
  • Check out some of the beer bars in Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn.
  • Visit Laduree for some macaroons (and dream of Paris; although honestly I may have to say NYC is a close tie. I'll report back after this trip.)
Our possibilities list includes:
What have I missed? What are your favorite things to do, see, and eat in NYC?

  2. I grew up on Staten Island and sent this to a friend when she was visiting the city for the first time a few weeks ago.

For Italian pastries, I would go to Ferrara's: 195 Grand Street. Everything they have is amazing, but their cannoli, sfogliatella, and seven layer cookies are my favorites. You can sit down and have coffee there as well.

For Italian food, I would go to Puglia's in Little Italy: 750 Barclay Avenue. Their cold antipasto appetizer is yummy. I also like their veal sorrentino.

By the Ferry, there is the Museum of the Native American Indian. The museum is free and everything in there is on loan from the Smithsonian. The building itself is pretty cool to (I think it's the old customs house).

If you're going to the 9/11 memorial, you might want to go online and reserve tickets. It helps you get on a shorter security line (when my husband and I went in November, it saved us almost 2 hours standing in line).

The churches by Ground Zero are beautiful. The one directly across has a bit of a museum inside. On that same side street, there is also the 9/11 preview center.

For shopping, Century 21 is directly across the street from Ground Zero. It's a really cool store.

Toys R Us in Times Square is always fun. The ferris wheel is really cool.

If you're thinking about a broadway play, go to the Time Square information center. They usually have pretty good deals for day of tickets.

If you like book and used bookstores, definitely try to check out Strand. It's right near Union Square. You could spend the day in there.

For quick pizza, John's on Bleeker is probably my favorite. 278 Bleecker Street. Plus, then you get to walk around the village which is always fun.

Heartland Brewery has some cool microbrews. The one by the seaport is the best, but it might not be opened after damage from Sandy. There is one near Radio City as well. Good burgers and great beer. Their website usually has their tap info.

    2. The Heartland in the Seaport might not be opened. But the one near Radio City should definitely be (we ate in that one this past November, it's a must for my husband whenever we are there). There is also one in Times Square, but it's always crowded.

    3. Thanks; according to their website Seaport is closed but we'll try to check out another location!
