December/Q4 2025 Freedom Bonus

Each quarter, for Chase Freedom cards, Chase identifies certain categories where you can earn 5X's points on purchases within the category, up to a maximum of $1,500 total in combined purchases. $1,500 x 5 = 7,500; which means that every quarter you can earn up to an extra 7,500 Chase points by using your Freedom card and maximizing the spend in the defined categories.

In order to be eligible, you must enroll each quarter. I simply google "chase freedom quarterly bonus enroll" and input the requested information or you can go to Chasebonus.com and enroll.

By simply enrolling and then using your Chase Freedom card, you'll earn 5X back on your purchases in the quarter's categories.

Q4 2025 Bonus Categories

Note that "Department Stores" includes Kohls. Kohls and other Department Stores often sell gift cards. This is a great way to maximize your earn on this category bonus, especially if you buy gift cards for holiday gifts.

That's not all..... Paypal!

Paypal is an excellent and easy way to take advantage of earning 5x's points (in addition to the quarter 4 categories above). All you need to do to maximizer this benefit is to add your Freedom card to your Paypal account.

Then, whenever a store as an option to use Paypal as a form of payment, select Paypal and you'll be routed to your Paypal account where you can choose to utilize your Freedom card for payment. There are NO fees for doing so. This bonus comes at a great time of the year, when many us of are shopping online more and may be an "easy" way for you to earn another 7,500 points!

Step by Step Paypal Example

1. Select Paypal as form of payment on the website you're shopping.

2.Check out with the vendor and you'll be taken to a  Paypal pop-up to confirm your purchase. On the Paypal screen, your Freedom card should be selected as your form of payment.

That's it! One or two extra clicks, and you just earned yourself 5X's points on your purchase!

Summary
Chase Freedom quarterly (and special) bonuses are an easy way to earn a few more of my favorite points!

If you're curious about the Chase Freedom card - I generally do not recommend opening one outright, because the sign up bonus isn't usually worth a 5/24 spot (review rule #2 here); but if you have a Sapphire card that you "downgrade", you downgrade (aka product change) to a Freedom Card (learn more about when to close or downgrade a card here). Because of this, I hold two Freedom cards and try to earn this maximum bonus; especially with Paypal shopping!
