DIY Wedding Gifts #3- Clever Way to Give Cash

I'm not sure when or how this idea came to me; but Ben and I had decided early on to give cash as our primary gift for the weddings we had to attend.   Since we already were giving the Invitation Ornaments, I counted that as our something sentimental that couples could have forever (or until someone breaks it) and remember it was from us.  Cash always comes in handy, whether it's putting it into savings or buying a new TV (the two things we did with the money from wedding gifts that we received.

As a creative way to give the cash, better than sticking it in an envelope/card; we decided (really, I did) to give the cash amount according to the couple's wedding date.  Then I constructed little (and simple) flap envelopes for each portion of the date....sounds confusing right?  Or do you know where I'm headed?

We had three weddings we were in, so the amounts followed as such:
  • September 3, 2011: $9 + $3 + $20 + $11 = $43
  • October 1, 2011: $10 + $1 + $20 + $11 = $42
  • October 22, 2011: $10 + $22 + $20 +$11 = $63
Since some of the amount were less than we wanted to spend, we ended up giving other items like the I Love You Because frame and a Bed Bath giftcard.  Overall though, I thought it was a cute way to give cash and was pleasure with myself for thinking of the idea.

Can you tell which wedding date this was for?
