Black, Red and Polka-dotted OOTD

Here's a double-doozie of a post, our Christmas tree and an OOTD. Enjoy.

Our six and a half foot tall tree (from good old Menards parking lot).  We keep it elevated to detract Oscar from chewing on the branches.  One of these days I will get around to making a tree skirt for it, but in the meantime, this will do.
Since we've been married we started collecting ornaments from our trips together.  Last year had just a few. Needless to say, this year we picked up a lot of new ornaments, which I was excited to get put on the tree.
(I searched long and hard for an ornament but never found one.  This Gaudi-inspired keychain was my next best option)

And of course, this was a MUST to add to our tree this year
(Sold here)

Of course, a  Christmas tree wouldn't be a Christmas tree without presents underneath.  I bought this polka-dot wrapping paper last year from Target and my sister complained that it wasn't Christmas-y enough (hmm, wonder if she knows the really meaning of Christmas. Which, I realize, is ironic to write consider the first sentence of this paragraph).
Personally, I love the combo
And yes, I did order personalized gift tags from Vistaprint when I ordered my Christmas cards.
Lastly, as the post title indicates, here is the outfit you've been searching for.

I recently bought this red pencil skirt thinking it was a smart addition to my collection of black, navy, gray and a few summer J Crew colors. After buying it, I realized I had no idea what I would wear it with.  Enter Yasi's blog, Hello Gorgeous.  A fashion friend.  She posted an outfit earlier this week that inspired this.
Sweater - Old Navy (similar here and here)
Skirt - The Limited (via a blog sale!; similar here)
Belt - F21 (similar here and here)
Shoes - Corso Como (similar here and here*)
And because the pictures above don't do justice for the shoes...
*although I have to profess, I didn't pay the hefty original price of $140 for these.  I found them in the sale room at Vonmaur, in my size, for $30! How could I resist?

Who doesn't love a Christmas tree?
It's Oscar's new favorite thing to stare at.
